Who are we?

Hello Developer!

The Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN) formally known as Development Finance Corporation has been arguably the single most important institution in the social and financial mobility of the citizens and residents of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

It was in 1981, The Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN) was established by an Act of parliament NO.1 of 1981 and opened its doors to the public on May 22nd of that same year.

DBSKN was established when Dr. The Rt. Hon. Sir Kennedy Simmonds was the Premier and Minister of Finance, under whose portfolio the Bank fell. Along with Mr. Richard Caines who was the Junior Minister of Finance – These two afforded the bank a firm foundation on which we have built years of success thus far.

It is noteworthy that DBSKN is wholly owned by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis but is fully autonomous and operates independently with a Board of Directors, CEO and a team of dedicated staff members I would like a link that takes the user straight to the heading that states -OUR Department with two its headquarters situated on the Corner of Church and Central Streets, Basseterre, St. Kitts and a secondary branch situated on Chapel Street, Charlestown, Nevis.

Development banking in the Caribbean region as a whole and in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union in particular, has been a means of providing access to finance by the small and medium size businesses which did not have the capacity or track record to do so from the stablished banking system.

The Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN), like many of its counterparts regionally and internationally, has held fast to its foremost mission to enhance economic and social well-being of the Federation in which it operates, based on the primacy of its government and ambitions of the people that it serves.

To date, DBSKN represent approximately 20% of the total non-governmental lending portfolio within the federation with a total loan portfolio of approximately EC$410Million.

DBSKN has made major contributions in its mandated sectors namely: the small and medium sized business sector which is dominated by the presence of DBSKN since the traditional bank normally shy away from this sector. In this area the bank currently represents 89% of the sector.

The Bank excels in providing residential housing to the lower middle income and lower income citizens of the Federation. In this area the bank currently represents one third (1/3) of the residential market.

With 90% of the total student loan market share within the Federation, the DBSKN student loan product can be considered to reasonably exist in a near-monopoly environment given its dominance in this sector of the market.

All institutions of relevance to life in the Federation that has been touched by the works of The Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis (DBSKN) are better off because of it.

DBSKN also provides various types of short, medium-term loans, for general services for clients.
